FINALLY THE FINALS (IT'S A LOOP)
Hello everyone, I do not know if this is the last time (probably not) I will be here, but I wanted to take a moment to goodbye and reflect on my experiences this semester. It feels like this semester flew by really quickly- maybe because of the daily problems every one of us faces. However, I do remember every part of it and this course has been an important part of this journey.
Starting my reflection, I would like to mention one of its strengths and weaknesses. Its greatest strength, in my opinion, is that we get to be in the kitchen of creating materials and learn how to do things by ourselves and be creative. I believe these assets will be really useful to us in our careers. However, its greatest weakness is the materials. What do I mean by that? For this kind of an experimental course where the students follow instructions to design and create materials, I feel that having to follow such lengthy chapters can be overwhelming. This was both a weakness and the most challenging aspect of the course for me.
When it comes to my most and least favorite tasks, I have to say AR/VR integrated teaching material for my most favorite, and Corpus-based teaching material for my least favorite. The reasons are actually quite normal and are tied to my personality. As a language enthusiast, it's only natural that I enjoy seeing different parts of the world, and the AR material contributed to this hobby of mine. On the other hand, unfortunately, I found Corpus-based material to be boring and challenging to use.
Before ending this post, here are my suggestions to future students of this course. Please be cooperative with your teammates as you will go through a semester together for the assignments. And what I believe to be the most important advice is, to try to be creative and find a muse in everything you see. Trust me, it will help you design the materials easily.
I think this post covers all the things I wanted to share. I believe this is it for me for this semester. Thank you so much for everything. I appreciate the shared experiences along the way. I hope everyone has a joyful and relaxing holiday!
