Here we go again...

Hello everyone, this is Melek here. Here we go again for my new assignment. It is designed specifically for a flipped classroom experience but before introducing you to the material, I would like to talk about what is a flipped classroom approach and what are its advantages and disadvantages.

A flipped classroom is a teaching model that is different from a traditional classroom. In a flipped classroom, students are introduced to new content outside of the classroom through videos, readings, or other online resources and then engage in more application-based activities during normal class time. I would like to mention some of its advantages first. It opens a door for enhanced language practice. For example, while a new topic is covered by the students at home, in-class time can be spent on conversational practice that build real-world knowledge skills. which is what a language classroom's aim is. Another point could be self-paced learning. It is a well-known fact that not every student has the same learning style and techniques, which makes their learning pace different. With this approach, students get to replay the content at hand as many times as they want. When it comes to the disadvantages, I can only think of one thing and that is the student motivation. Since the teacher will not be monitoring the student, it is up to him/her to study the content. Overall, it is a promising approach for the 21st century which moves forward with a lot of technological advancements in every area.

So much for the introduction. Now's the time to talk about the assignment. As a group, we were supposed to choose between either a grammar or a vocabulary lesson, so we chose the latter. Our target group was 5th graders, and we decided on the 'fitness' unit, extracting relevant vocabulary from it. To create the lesson, we used various tools such as Canva, Pinterest and Wordwall. Once we chose the unit and the tools, the creating process became really easy. We prepared a script for each section of the lesson, and found some interesting pictures and gifs from Pinterest to make the lesson more engaging and meaningful for the students. To keep the lesson lively and not boring, we added a soft background music and kept the video under 3 minutes. In my opinion the result was 💥immaculate💥! To assess their understanding, we also created a quiz. The website we used for this was appropriate for the 5th graders and had fun designs. Without further ado, I will leave you the links of the video and the quiz. I hope you enjoy them! Thank you so much for stopping by, wish to see you again.
